Heritage District Protection in Nova Scotia: Its Past, Present and Future

There is a crisis in the increase of heritage building demolitions in HRM and around the province. District heritage registration is one tool groups can use to help preserve the integrity of heritage neighbourhoods. In this timely panel discussion, three guest speakers will provide both a primer on heritage district registration and a discussion about what more can and should be done to preserve our built heritage and historic neighbourhoods.

Howard Epstein will speak about the enabling legislation for Heritage Conservation Districts in Nova Scotia and HRM.

Bill Plaskett will speak about his experience on the Maitland Heritage Conservation District.

Alan Parish will speak about his experience in trying to get Heritage Conservation District registration for the Creighton's Field area in Halifax through the Old North End Heritage District Association.

Moderator: Michèle Hovey Raymond
